Despite his wicked sense of humor, he has hosted the Golden Globes for a total of five years, using his blunt and dark jokes to roast the biggest celebrities in Hollywood. The creator of The Office has been doing this for years and the nominees are very much aware of what he is capable of.

Mocking Johnny Depp’s performance on The Tourist was one of the few jokes that was actually on the lighter side of things during the 68th Golden Globes. He also took jabs at other celebrities, some of which were below the belt and uncalled for but pretty much true to some degree. In true Depp fashion, he was able to take the joke and even worked with Gervais on his show Life’s Too Short. At the 69th Golden Globes, Gervais introduced him as the celeb that “wears anything Tim Burton tells him to” and they even poked fun at Depp not being able to watch The Tourist.
